“Horga’hn”, pronounced “HOR-gon” is a fertility idol from the planet Risa in the Star Trek universe. After watching the episode when Riker gave Captain Picard one to take on his holidays, I had an impending urge to make one!
I started by creating a small base by glueing three pieces of frame together, before trimming it into a rough circle. Then I stuck it to a 25mm base and started on the legs. For these, I chopped off the rounded corners of the sprue, shaped them, and attached them to the base. Next I made a small torso and fixed a pair of arms to it.
The head was a little more tricky. I had to glue six pieces of sprue together before trimming it to the required shape. Then, I carved out the eye sockets and headband decoration. To finish the whole dude, I gave it some weird whiskers and attached the head to the body. After basing the mini with sand, it was done.
Obviously I painted it a brown colour. But I did add a slight red tint to the wash.
This idol now joins the unofficial “Icon” warband, bringing its members up to three! I have some other ideas for the next one, but as usual, there are so many dudes to make and so little time!
