I could believe my luck when I found a giant wooden button in a craft store. It resurrected my interest in my button dude warband. So as soon as I got home, I went to it by grabbing a load of bits of leftover sprue, some buttons and a lovely large oval base.

I started, like all good artists, with the eyes. I drilled a hole into two 20mm bases and glued them to the massive button. Then I attached four smaller buttons to form a solid base for the limbs.

I decided to make the legs first by glueing four pieces of sprue together. Once they were done, I attached them to the large oval base. Next, I did the same thing for the arms as the legs, apart from making them slightly longer. While rummaging through my supply of buttons, I found two decorated ones. These would be perfect as armour for the dude’s shoulders.

I finished the main part of the mini by attaching some “hands”. These were made from six pieces of sprue, so they would look slightly larger than the arms.

As the figure was going to be large, I thought it would be a good idea to turn it into a button “Troop” carrier. Consequently, I constructed a platform using six square bases and attached it to the back of the button. To complete the project, I glued several smaller buttons together to create a weapon resembling a heavy club. As a result, the character now appeared quite intimidating indeed.

I painted this mighty fellow black. This was a practical decision, as it was the colour of the primer! Then all I had to do was a touch of dry brushing. And after a few splashes of colour for the hands, weapons and armour, he was ready!

He now joins his fellow Button Dudes as their warband continues to grow! But have you missed these other button builds?
