I thought it was about time to set myself another challenge of making a little warband entirely out of sprue goo. To make it even more tricky, I only had a small amount of offcuts and shavings to hand.
I proceeded to add them to a small jar of acetone and left it overnight. Once it was gooey enough, I pulled it out and left it to harden.
When ready, I simply trimmed slices off the lump and started looking for shapes that would be suitable to make a mini out of. As soon as I found some, I just glued bits together.
I made simple bodies and added some limbs. I embellished them with a few extra pieces of plastic placed here and there.
As the lump was still a bit soft in the middle, it allowed me to use a cocktail stick to make some eyes. I also went back and added a pair of eyebrows to each dude to give them a little more character.
After basing them with sand, I set about adding some paint. I plumped for a muddy brown colour with a few brighter highlights. After looking at them, they were a bit too brown. So I repainted their shoulder pads and weapons in silver, which made them stand out much more.
These were great fun to make. Giving myself the restriction of using only that one blob of sprue goo really helped with my creativity!
