I found myself with a small piece of sprue and wondered what could I do with it? So I thought I’ll make my own mini and in the end, I was quite happy!

Introducing “Sprue Dudes”! They’re so simple to make, you just need to find a small bit of sprue, grab a base and start gluing parts together. Within no time you’ve made your first, totally unique mini.

Introducing Sprue Dudes

Build Those Dudes

When I construct a “Sprue Dude”, I take the piece of plastic and examine it first before chopping it up. I look for straight bits that can be used for the body, its arms and legs. Any curved sections on the frame are good for weaponry and backpacks. Most importantly though is to have a head. As you can see with this bit of sprue there are plenty of circular nobbles which are perfect!

I start with the feet first (*”it’s the only way!”), gluing them to a 25mm base. Of course, if you have lots of sprues hanging around you could always make your own, but I haven’t, so I use these cheap ones instead. Then I move up to the legs, then the body and keep going up until the “Sprue Dude” is done!

Adding a few pieces of chopped up sprue to its base completes the dude! Once the glue has completely dried, I slap a bit of paint on and it’s done.

The Army Grows

I’ve found making these massively addictive and I if I’m being honest I can’t stop making them!

Yes, they are really basic looking, but I can see myself making them far more fancy in the future with extra weapons, embellishments etc. I may even get to the point of carving the sprues into realistic looking minis?

But for now I’m more than happy enough to carry on and continue to build more dudes for an almighty army! And perhaps in the future I’ll design a full game around them!
