Renedra Outbuilding

I really like this Renendra Wattle/Timber Outbuilding and I really, really like the building instructions, they’re so awesome.

The build was simple and fast to do, with a minimal amount flashing to clean up as well. When fully built its a solid piece of kit and it leftover sizable sprues gave me plenty of options of what to make.

The Sprues

Enclosure and lean-to

First I went about making an enclosure fence that could butt up against one of the sides of the hut. Chopping up equal lengths of plastic I gently carved them to give them an impression of wooden posts. Also I left a small opening to act as a gateway to let livestock and people in and out of it.

Next I made a pile of logs and created its own little lean-to to keep firewood dry!

The complete sprue

All villages need a well, so I made one of those with a lovely wooden top. Then I made a small wooden feeding trough with added straw! With the remaining bits of sprue I constructed a small workshop (including a shelf!) that fit nicely next to the fence. I found a 25mm base so I carved some wooden planks into it and glue four legs to create a table.

It’s all modular so I can move bits around to suit the battlefield.

I painted it all up and I just love the fact that its gone from a single hut, to a whole little family home that you could move straight away!
