I thought it was about time I made a wizard, so I did!

An apology first. I got so involved in making this little sorcerer that I completely forgot to take that many photos. But I will tell you how I made it anyway.

I started by grabbing an old bit of base and fashioned it into a beard shape. Then, I cut out a hole for the mouth and scratched all over it with a knife to create a texture of hair. And after gluing it to the end of a piece of sprue, I gave it a nose and a pair of eyes.

All good wizards need a hat, so I made one by caving a circle out of another piece of base for the rim. And then I attached a curved part of a sprue for the main (droopy) part of the hat.

With that done, I glued a few more pieces of sprue for his long hair which completed his head.

The body itself was really easy; I glued two bits of sprue together and cut out a kind of bell shape. This gave me the basic outline of his gown, and after I attached his arms, hands, and staff, he was done.

With a nod to “The Lord of the Rings,” I decided to paint him grey. This was by far the quickest part of the whole project, as it was mostly dry brushing over a black primer!

SPRUE DUDE no25: Wizard Dude!

The question is, though, what should I use him for? Frostgrave is probably the best option, and maybe he could take command over a warband of Animal Dudes!
