“This little warband came together from a single sprue goo mistake!”
Sprue Dude no55 – The Good
I found this mould, which I thought would be brilliant to make some sprue goo dudes out of. Excitedly, I got my jar of ready-to-use goo and spooned it into the mould. I chose the strawberry because, why not?
The problem was, I was too keen on pulling it free. I waited for a day for the goo to set, but as it was very thick, it didn’t get the chance to fully solidify. The result, as you can see, was an uninteresting lump.
Being upset, I put it aside for a while. But after a week or so I picked it back up. I was just about to pop it back into acetone when inspiration took hold.
I cut the lump up into small slices, and with these bits, I started to construct a new dude.
Grabbing three parts, I glued them together to make the legs and torso before selecting a suitable bit and sticking on a pair of eyes.
Then, I carved out some arms and attached them, and to finish off, I stuck on a few offcuts to bulk the mini out a little.
I went the lazy route to paint it. I sprayed it black and gave it a light dry brush for the highlights. Then, added a bit of colour with the green parts.
After finishing this dude off I got somewhat enthused to make some friends for it. So making a couple more blobs of sprue goo I crafted a couple more!
Sprue Dude no56 – The Bad
This dude was so simple to make. Just using a bobbly blob of goo I stuck on a pair of eyes, eyebrows and gave it six legs. To paint it I went for purple (just because I don’t use that colour very often!).
Sprue Dude no57 – The Ugly
I as was looking at this piece of sprue goo, it seemed to show a face on its surface. So I grabbed a knife and to help bring it out a little.
Once done, I made a simple frame for its body and gave it a vicious weapon. And as it looked like a brain, I painted it pink!
