This time I got a lovely sprue of Frostgrave Gnolls from North Star games to play with.
After building these fine fellows, I was left with quite a lot of plastic! As Gnolls apparently live underground and do come out to fight occasionally, I decided they needed something to come out of!

So I went about making a kind of mineshaft entrance, so they could easily scurry out of.

I started by cutting off strips of sprue and then carving them to look like tree trunks. Next, I took time to glue them all together into a triangular shape. This gives the appearance the structure goes into the ground. Once the basic shape was complete, I glued some of the unused bases that I cut off the Gnolls around the base of the entrance. This gave me the option of attaching stone rubble around the whole structure, beefing it up a little.

As a final touch I positioned one of the spare Gnoll’s heads on the lintel above the entrance and called it done.

Excited to paint them up, I put the unused pieces of sprue aside. Once I finished, I went back and decided to make a couple of baracades/fences. These can be attached to the sides of the main structure in many different ways.

I’m happy with how this project turned out, especially with the solidness of the structure I created!
