Button Penny Farthing

While aimlessly playing around with some buttons, it struck me: why not make something completely useless but extremely cool?

So I set about making him a new pair of wheels. This time, however, it was going to be old school—really old school—a “Penny Farthing!”

I grabbed two buttons, one large and one small, and glued them to a 25mm base. As it was a bit too small, I made both buttons hang over the edge slightly. I then cut a length of sprue into thin pieces and attached them to the “wheels.” After finding a suitable curved piece of plastic, I trimmed it before gluing, to start the main part of the frame.

Next, I made a pair of handlebars, a seat, some pedals, and then turned my focus to the rider.

One thing was painfully obvious: Button Dudes have short legs, and they’ll never reach the peddles. So I glossed over that point and made him in the same way as I made all the other ones! (He’ll just have to ride it downhill.).

To finish him off, I glued a big spear to his back before painting him up.
